Freezing weather conditions are back with temperatures dropping to as low as -6C in some areas.

Up to five centimetres of snow hit parts of the country with Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Roscommon the worst affected.

A number of roads have been closed as a result.

Further snow will fall again today, moving east across the country - but the cold snap is not likely to last past the weekend.

Padraig Corkery of Kerry County Council says there was quite a bit of snowfall last night with Killarney the worst hit.
