Pete Townshend plays on David Bowie's new album

David Bowie's new album Heathen will feature guitars from Pete Townshend and Dave Grohl.

David Bowie's new album Heathen will feature guitars from Pete Townshend and Dave Grohl.

The album's opening track Sunday has also been remixed by Bowie's friend Moby, while Air have remixed a track called A Better Future.

Heathen is released on July 10.

Bowie describes Townshend's contribution as "the most eccentric and aggressive guitar I've heard Pete play, quite unlike anything else he's done recently."

The Who musician has added lead guitar to a track called Slow Burn.

All songs were written and recorded during July and August of last year.
