Danehill faces Mary destiny
Danehill Destiny bids to extend her unbeaten sequence to three when she faces 16 rivals in a competitive renewal of the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
Trained by William Haggas, the youngster has taken the eye in winning at Newmarket and Windsor, where she put up a sound display to repel the highly-regarded Prolific at the start of the month.
Chris Richardson, managing director for owners Cheveley Park Stud, said: “We’ll look forward to it and I think she’s certainly an exciting prospect.
“She learned plenty from Windsor last time and that was a good race and she looks a progressive filly.
“I know William is very happy with her but it’s obviously disappointing to have lost Ryan Moore, although Jimmy (Fortune) takes his place.
“I think she’s pretty straightforward and it’s nice to be going for a Royal Ascot race with a decent, progressive two-year-old.”
Bryan Smart saddled Hellvelyn to win the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2006 and has high hopes for Excellent Show.
“She did her final canter on Monday morning. She’s very well and we’re happy with her,” said the North Yorkshire trainer.
The daughter of Exceed And Excel got off the mark at Musselburgh late last month after finishing second on her debut at Thirsk.
