Irish Water dealing with 84 incidents at treatment plants due to Storm Desmond

Irish Water says it is dealing with 84 separate incidents at treatment plants, as a result of Storm Desmond.

However, the company says it has been able to maintain normal water supplies to most of its customers.

Power cuts, flooding or a reduced ability to produce clean drinking water due to the quality of water coming into many plants are being managed and closely monitored on an ongoing basis.

Irish Water says customers in areas affected by precautionary boil water notices issued as a result of the storm have been notified, and tankered water is being supplied.
