Leeds United AFC and Valencia CF are goalless at full-time in the second UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg at Elland Road tonight.

The Spanish visitors have had two good chances, through Juan Sánchez and Gaizka Mendieta, while Alan Smith headed just wide for Leeds and Ian Harte's left-footed free-kicks have kept Valencia on their toes.

Both sides have made impressive progress to the last four. In the quarter-finals Valencia beat Arsenal FC on away goals while Leeds beat the Spanish champions Deportivo La Coruña 3-2 on aggregate.

The last time the sides met in European competition was twice in successive seasons in the mid-1960s, and the English side got the better of their Spanish opponents on both occasions.
