Bradley Cooper is in talks to star in 'Dark Invasion'.
The 'Silver Linings Playbook' actor would play a New York police captain, Tom Tunney, in the Warner Bros. movie, which is based on an upcoming book by Howard Blum.
According to Deadline, the studio has signed a six-figure deal for the non-fiction tome, which is due to be published in September 2013.
The story is set in 1915 and tells the tale of the clandestine war waged by the German Secret Service against the then-neutral US in the First World War in order to keep America from helping the Allies. The German spies bomb factories, sabotage ships, shoot a financier, destroy buildings and set up an anthrax lab just six miles away from the White House.
Bradley's character - who is said to be regarded by the CIA as their first head of homeland security - is tasked with establishing a team to bring the spies to justice.
The 'Hangover' star and his 22nd & Indiana company will produce with John Lesher and his Le Grisbi banner and Adam Kassan.
