British trainer Richard Fahey was honoured for his outstanding achievements this year at the 2006 ‘Go Racing in Yorkshire’ Awards lunch at the Ripon Spa Hotel.
Fahey, who recorded over 80 winners during the campaign, racked up prize-money in excess of £1m in a Flat season for the first time in his training career.
His biggest success was Fonthill Road’s victory in the Ayr Gold Cup in September.
Talented filly Anna Pavlova also won valuable races at Haydock, York and Ascot, while Wyatt Earp landed the Sky Bet Dash at York – a course at which he was leading trainer this season.
The Sky Bet trophies for leading trainer and jockey on the Yorkshire racecourses during the 2006 Flat season went to Mark Johnston and Robert Winston, with 42 and 41 winners respectively.
The National Hunt Sky Bet awards for top trainer and jockey in Yorkshire were won by Howard Johnson (16 winners) and Graham Lee (13 winners).
