Harry Kewell returns to the Liverpool squad after recovering from a calf injury for the home match with promoted side West Brom.

Kewell was sidelined for Liverpool’s last game, the 1-0 defeat at Bolton a fortnight ago, where a five-man midfield had youngster Stephen Warnock on the right flank and Djibril Cisse initially on the bench.

The Frenchman is expected to return to the frontline for this Anfield clash with Luis Garcia playing in a more orthodox midfield role.

Provisional squad: Dudek, Josemi, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Garcia, Gerrard, Hamann, Alonso, Baros, Cisse, Kewell, Harrison, Diao, Traore, Biscan, Finnan, Pongolle, Warnock.
