Irish Life & Permanent plc has announced that it will donate €100,000 to support relief efforts in Asia following the devastation caused in the region by this week’s earthquake and tsunami.
The money is to be donated to the Irish Red Cross to support that organisation’s relief efforts in affected countries.
Irish Life & Permanent plc is the holding company for the businesses of Irish Life, permanent tsb bank and Irish Life Investment Managers.
Speaking today, group chief executive David Went said that the donation was being made in light of the extraordinary devastation caused by this week’s disaster.
“The devastation caused by this week’s events has been beyond imagination. We hope that this gesture reflects the distress which everyone in the group feels at what has unfolded and our support and admiration for the extraordinary efforts of so many aid agencies involved in the rescue and recovery operations," he said.
