Soldier killed as explosion hits coalition convoy in Afghanistan

An explosion near a military convoy in southern Afghanistan killed one soldier in the US-led coalition today and wounded four.

An explosion near a military convoy in southern Afghanistan killed one soldier in the US-led coalition today and wounded four.

The blast took place at about 5am local time about six miles north-east of the coalition-run Kandahar Airfield, said Canadian military spokeswoman Capt. Julie Roberge.

Military officials were investigating if the blast was caused by a roadside bomb or land mine, Roberge said. She did not release the nationalities of the coalition soldiers.
