Aurelio hopeful over fitness

Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio remains hopeful of making his comeback from injury before the end of the season.

The Brazilian sustained a second hamstring problem in the space of six weeks when he was injured in the draw at Arsenal 10 days ago.

Because of other injuries to Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger, 17-year-old reserve team full-back Jack Robinson has had to fill in and looks set to play a part until the end of the campaign.

Aurelio, however, is also looking forward to being involved before then.

“I’m optimistic I will be able to play again before the end of the season,” said the 31-year-old.

“It’s the same hamstring injury I had against Manchester United in March but in a slightly different place.

“It is very frustrating, but the way I look at it is God is good all the time and I still have faith that things will turn around.

“That is why I keep fighting to get fit.”

On the emergence of Robinson, and the 18-year-old John Flanagan on the right of defence Aurelio added: “Jack has shown his ability, quality and personality. It was the same with John Flanagan.

“They are very young but they don’t seem to feel the pressure at all.”
