Green Party Leader, Trevor Sargent, will travel to Sellafield today to protest at the opening of the Mox plant.

He will be joined by an Irish Environmental Group and they will together hand in a petition of 5000 signatures when they meet with BNFL representatives.

Mr Sargent is to ask managers at the plant to transform its work from nuclear reprocessing to clean operations.

He believes the move would guarantee employment for the plant’s 10000 workers.
