Meath's, Rory Galligan retains his lead in the Peugeot Super 106 Cup category of the Banbury Rally in Oxford. Mid-way through the 14 stages, he has some ten seconds to spare over fellow Irish driver, Kris Meeke.
Galligan, the 2000 Billy Coleman Award winner, dropped time with fuel problems but has still managed to hold out despite the constant pressure of Meeke, along with Ryan Champion, who lies third and Gary Jennings, in fourth - all of whom are within 15 seconds of the top spot.
Further down the list, in seventh, is Shaun Gallagher.
In the Formula Rally, Justin Dale (Peugeot) is the new leader after the demise of Mats Andersson who has retired. Mark Higgins/Mike Gibson (VW Polo) are just 0.9 seconds off the lead. Martin Rowe (Ford) is third and Max McKillen is fifth.
It hasn't been such a good day for the Irish contingent in the British Formula Renault Championship opener at the Rockingham Speedway.
John O'Hara finished eight and Michael Devaney failed to finish. In the qualifying for tomorrow's race, O'Hara will begin from the seventh row and Devaney is on row twelve.
Britain's, Robert Bell, who won the first round, has also taken pole for round two.
