Juan Pablo Montoya concedes he is unlikely to repeat his comfortable 2003 victory at Hockenheim in Sunday’s German Grand Prix.
The Colombian romped to an easy win 12 months ago but Williams’ fortunes have since slumped and Montoya has not been a genuine contender for victory yet this season.
He admits that is unlikely to change this weekend but has pledged to do his all as Williams face up to a fight to keep their top-three spot in the constructors’ championship.
Montoya said: “The last victory I had was at last year’s grand prix in Hockenheim, so it would be good to win again this year.
“Last year was such a great weekend for us at Hockenheim. I was able to cruise to one of our most dominant wins ever.
“I will be very surprised if we get anywhere near that kind of performance this time out, though.”
