ISPCA launches 'Hay Drive' for winter feed

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) is appealing to the public to help it look after abandoned and starving horses, donkeys and ponies this Christmas.

The charity is today launching its 'Hay Drive' winter fundraising campaign, which aims to generate money to buy bales of hay for hundreds of neglected animals.

The charity said one €3 donation will buy a single bale of hay, enough to feed a horse for a day.

"We can look after the horses we have on-site in our centres but it's the ones that are out in fields that are very difficult to get to, and we are limited as to the number we can take in," said ISPCA Director Barbara Bent.

"We feel this is a way to help those ones that have little to eat over the winter months."

To donate €3, simply text 'Hay' to 57802 or visit www.ispca.ie.
