Insurgents kill US soldier with home-made bomb

Insurgents blew up a home-made bomb in western Baghdad while a US Army patrol was passing, killing a soldier and an Iraqi interpreter and wounding three other troops, a military statement said today.

Insurgents blew up a home-made bomb in western Baghdad while a US Army patrol was passing, killing a soldier and an Iraqi interpreter and wounding three other troops, a military statement said today.

The attack on the 1st Armoured Division patrol occurred yesterday in Abu Ghurayb district, it said.

The names of the dead and wounded were withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident is being investigated, it said.
