Kim Christensen scored a hat-trick as St Patrick's Athletic bowed out of the UEFA Cup with a whimper following tonight's trouncing in Denmark.

It went wrong for St Pat's from the 15th minute when they lost anchor midfielder Michael Keane who had to come off with a hamstring injury.

Five minutes later they were a goal down when Hans Henrik Andreasen fired past Barry Ryan from close range.

A mix-up between Ryan and Stephen Brennan gifted Odense a corner nine minutes later from which Christensen headed the home side 2-0 up from Chris Sorensen's delivery.

Ryan Guy headed into the side netting 10 minutes before half time as Saints tried to hit back. But they then fell further behind on 44 minutes to end the tie as any sort of contest.

Once again, the Dublin side failed to defend a corner a corner from Sorensen and the big Christensen headed his second goal of the night.

Christensen completed his hat-trick on 73 minutes when flicking the ball past Ryan.

Peter Nymann saved the best goal till last when rifling number five past Ryan with a terrific left-foot shot two minutes from time.
