Gardaí make €100,000 heroin seizure

Gardaí in Ballyfermot, west Dublin have seized heroin with a street value of €100,000 today after a week long surveillance operation.

Gardaí in Ballyfermot, west Dublin have seized heroin with a street value of €100,000 today after a week long surveillance operation.

A team of 15 gardaí along with a dog unit made the seizure in an area know as "the Field" beside Le Fanu Park in Ballyfermot.

The dog unit carried out the search at 9am this morning and found the heroin buried up to 3ft below ground.

Gardaí say this is believed to be the first seizure of rock heroin which is its purest form. No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
