Met Eireann is warning that temperatures will remain below zero with all-time lows for November recorded at -9C in some parts over the weekend.

The Arctic conditions have been caused by a combination of light winds, snow cover and clear skies.

Commuters are being advised to give themselves plenty of time when heading to work this morning as traffic is likely to move more slowly.

Motorists are being asked to leave the car at home and use public transport if possible.

Bus and Rail officials have said that apart from the obvious delays they don't foresee any major problems with services.

Bus Eireann is advising of some disruption to school transport services this morning.

In particular, those operating on minor roads in counties Louth, Cavan, Waterford, south Wexford and Kilkenny may be subject to diversion and possible cancellation.

Also, the Dublin Airport to Rosslare Bus Eireann services will only operate to and from Gorey.

The 8am Dundalk to Newry service is cancelled.

There are also some delays to other Bus Eireann services operating in the east of the country.
