1. This stunning creation is the work of Tatiana Dobos. Originally from Moldova and now based in Galway, the ceramicist says she likes to dramatise human emotions in her terracotta and stoneware pieces, which emphasise the interaction of sentiments, shapes and colours. Tatiana is exhibiting as part of the Designed and Made in Ireland Showcase.

It will run from Monday, July 15, to Sunday, July 28, at Tribeton, Merchants Road, Galway.

Design Island is a network of designer-makers who pool their resources to promote their work.

This year’s show will present furniture, lighting, resin and metal sculpture, glass, ceramics, and woodturning. The participants in this edition of Design Works are from Galway, Meath, Wicklow, Clare, Laois, Offaly, Dublin, and Cork.

Irish Design has also invited a graduate from Letterfrack College of Furniture. Admission is free and all are welcome. For more, check out facebook.com/designisland.ie/

2. Loving the pop of colours in these Alice mugs, available from Avoca for €12.95 each. www.avoca.ie.

3. This is the Mya three-seater sofa, simply velvet in indigo blue. It’s €899 from DFS, Mahon. www.dfs.ie.

4. Check out this cutie, it’s my online pick this week.Meet Miko the panda. This plush cushion is €14.50 from Rexlondon.com

5. On The Bathroom Shelf this week is Beeline Kids Vitamin D3 10mcg chewable tablets.

These orange-flavoured tablets aim to top up your children with Vitamin D3. Suitable for children 3 years+, just one tablet a day provides 10mcg of the preferred form of Vitamin D Cholecalciferol for healthy bones and teeth and immune and muscle support.

Either that or throw the kids outdoors (with sunscreen, of course). Available in supermarkets nationwide and leading pharmacies, such as Boots, from €7.

6. Feast your eyes on these wonderful wooden tealight holders by Sam agus Nessa. They are handmade from natural, sustainable, Irish hard timber and finished using local beeswax in their workshop in Kildare. The pod is crafted to fit a pair of tealights like, well, two peas, I suppose.

They’re €12 from Designist.ie and I spotted them in the window of Kilkenny Shop in Emmet Place, Cork.

7. Monique Howlett is exhibiting her artwork in Cork before her family (former rugby player husband Doug, and their five children) decamp to live in New Zealand. Monique has drawn from her experiences of living in Ireland for inspiration: ‘I have worked on this collection for the past seven years. It explores my passion for nature and nurture and the simple joy it brings.’

The collection of oils and sketches is on display in the Hazelhurst Gallery in Monkstown and Monique donated 30% of all profits from the opening night to the CUH children’s charity.www.facebook.com/hazelhurstartscentre

8. Fatboy has added Lamzac O to its collection, a comfortable, easy-to-inflate, low-weight chair. It’s €69 and comes in a choice of colours, but we love the look of this orange one, www.fatboy.com
