Members of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party have begun arriving at Leinster House to decide the fate of the leader of their party
Enda Kenny will face his parliamentary party at half past eleven where they'll vote on a motion of confidence in him.
Two days of intense lobbying by his supporters and those of his former deputy Richard Bruton are believed to have left a core group of less than ten members either undecided or unwilling to disclose where their loyalties lie.
On their arrival at leinster house a short time ago, TD Frank Feighan from the Enda Kenny camp and Deputy Brian Hayes, who's behind Richard Bruton were both insisting their men would win.
"I think Enda Kenny has over 37 nominations but as you know, we are dealing with politicians and anything can happen in the next few hours," Deputy Feighan said.
"I think our number is in the high 30s but let's just wait and see," Deputy Hayes meanwhile said. "I'm confident of success - that's where the mood of the party is."
Meanwhile, Deputy Phil Hogan said he is confident Enda Kenny's support base is solid.
"The arguments to stay with Enda Kenny will eliminate the prospect of a protracted, summer-long election process," Deputy Hogan said.
"What we want is to redouble our efforts, in a united way, to ensure that we are well-prepared to fight the next General Election, and that may come sooner rather than later."
