Richard Dunne has signed a new three-year contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until 2009.

Richard Dunne has signed a new three-year contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until 2009.

The Republic of Ireland centre-back, who has been with City since October 2000, said: “It’s terrific news. I’m delighted the club has shown their faith in me.

“I’m very setted here and I believe the club is going in the right direction.

“I think we’ve got a great nucleus of a squad to progress next season and I’m really looking forward to the new campaign already.”

Dunne, voted City’s player of the season for the second year running, told www.mcfc.co.uk: “I’ve had terrific support in the last couple of years - particularly from the fans.”
