RUC condemns south Armagh mortar attack

The RUC has condemned last night's mortar attack on one of its bases in south Armagh as "a reckless act of violence".

The RUC has condemned last night's mortar attack on one of its bases in south Armagh as "a reckless act of violence".

In a statement, the force said those who launched the attack on the base in Bessbrook were placing the lives of those living inside a busy community at risk.

More than 20 homes had to be evacuated in nearby estates after the device was fired from a nearby van.

There are no reports of any injuries or serious damage.
