John hits out Spears' media profile

Music legend Elton John has hit out at Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez, accusing them of courting publicity.

Music legend Elton John has hit out at Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez, accusing them of courting publicity.

The singer complains newspapers and magazines are rife with stories about the same celebrities, and he's urging aspiring stars to take on a more mysterious persona - because it will help make them interesting.

He says: "There is no charisma any more. We know everything about everyone.

"If I see one more photo of Britney or J.Lo or Ben Affleck, I'm going to spit. I want mystery.

"That's why Morrissey has had some success again, he's a bit of an enigma.

"I know I've cultivated this image of myself having tantrums and spending all this money and having nice weekends in my big house in the south of France... but I really don't think I court publicity like I used to. And I don't want it."
