Cork players Sean Óg O hAilpmn, Diarmuid O'Sullivan and Donal Óg Cusack will play no part in today's Munster SHC semi-final against Waterford after failing to have their suspensions lifted by the GAA's Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
The DRA met yesterday afternoon to hear the cases of the 'Semplegate trio', after the Rebels failed in their Friday night bid to have the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) overturn their four-week bans.
The verdict came through from the DRA shortly before 10pm last night and means that Cork manager Gerald McCarthy is likely to stick with the side he selected in mid-week for today's clash with Waterford in Thurles (throw-in 4pm).
It is the meeting of the defending Munster champions against the recently crowned National League champions, with a bumper crowd expected at Semple Stadium.
A statement from the DRA confirmed: "At a hearing in Portlaoise (today), a DRA Tribunal refused applications by Diarmuid O'Sullivan, Sean Og O hAilpmn and Dsnal Sg Cusack to remove suspensions imposed on them arising out of incidents prior to the Cork v Clare Munster SHC game on May 27, 2007."
