Kilshaws decide against adoption appeal

British couple Judith and Alan Kilshaw have decided not to appeal against the High Court ruling to return the babies they adopted over the internet to the United States

The British couple claimed they paid a US baby broker £8,200 to adopt nine-month-old Kimberley and Beverley.

The babies were seized by social services in January from a north Wales hotel where the couple were staying and were placed with foster parents.

Californian couple Richard and Vickie Allen, who claim they too paid for the twins, are believed to have dropped out of the custody battle after Mr Allen was arrested on suspicion of molesting two teenage sisters.

Meanwhile, the twins' natural mother Tranda Wecker is said to be relieved that "her girls" were returning home to Missouri.

Liverpool-based solicitor and child law specialist Helen Broughton, who has been representing the former hotel receptionist in Britain, said her client now had "an opportunity to make things right".

But the baby girls' biological father has told a US TV show that he would "make a better parent".

Aaron Wecker agreed to the adoption of the twins when they were born last year, but said he was led to believe that they would live in the US.
