Real Madrid have parted company with coach Carlos Queiroz after a run of results which saw the club slide to a dismal fourth place in Spain.

Queiroz saw his side blow a seven point lead in the Primera league in February to eventually slump to fourth place in Spain, ending the season yesterday with a 4-1 defeat at home to Real Sociedad.

This came despite a hugely talented squad and the addition of England captain David Beckham.

Real Madrid also limped out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage to Monaco and Real's on-loan striker Fernando Morientes.
