John Terry and Wayne Bridge had earlier followed Matthew Upson in withdrawing, while Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand and Jonathan Woodgate were not included in the first place.

That means Wes Brown is now set to make his first England start for two years alongside Jamie Carragher in a makeshift central defensive pairing against the Dutch at Villa Park.
