Sven-Goran Eriksson’s preparations for Wednesday’s England friendly against Holland were thrown into turmoil today as Ledley King became the fourth defender to pull out of the squad through injury.
John Terry and Wayne Bridge had earlier followed Matthew Upson in withdrawing, while Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand and Jonathan Woodgate were not included in the first place.
That means Wes Brown is now set to make his first England start for two years alongside Jamie Carragher in a makeshift central defensive pairing against the Dutch at Villa Park.
