'All-natural' Milkybar Kid returns

The Milkybar Kid made a return today – as Milkybar claimed to have become the first major children’s chocolate brand in the UK to move to all-natural ingredients.

The sweet treat, which has been produced for more than 70 years, is using totally natural supplies in its recipe from this month.

But manufacturer Nestle said the switch will not affect the taste.

The latest incarnation of the Milkybar Kid, 12-year-old William Ray, was launched into the spotlight to coincide with the announcement.

The character – first played by nine year-old Terry Brooks – made his debut in 1961 and there have been seven since his appearance.

Samuel Baker, who played the Kid during the mid 1990s, went on to play professional rugby in the Dutch Premiership.

William’s immediate predecessor appeared in 1998 and was played by Gareth Watchman.
