Champion Bumper winner Missed That finished third on his debut over fences in the opening race at Thurles.
Willie Mullins’ six-year-old was sent off the 1-2 favourite but made several costly errors in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Beginners Chase and was always being held in the closing stages.
Public Reaction and Trampoline King had made most of the running and filled the first two places with the former gaining the upper hand on the run-in for a neck verdict.
David Casey had Missed That handy throughout the race with the partnership occupying third place for most of the second circuit.
Mullins’ charge, who beat the smart Travino in a point-to-point, was novicey for most of the race though, and made a couple of serious errors over the final five fences.
“I am very disappointed. He didn’t jump and that’s all am I going to say,” said Mullins.
Missed That had been considered a leading candidate for the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy with quotes as low as 12-1 prior to his chasing debut.
