Yahoo and McAfee to announce jobs in Cork and Dublin

Two American companies are to create 260 new jobs in Dublin and Cork over the next 12 months.

The internet company Yahoo will later today announce that it will add 200 new jobs in Dublin.

And the security software company McAfee plans to add 60 jobs as it establishes, what it calls, a worldwide centre of excellence for enterprise security solutions in Cork.

The two projects are backed by the IDA and will be announced by Taoiseach Enda Kenny in the US later on today.

Yahoo has already started recruiting for its customer support, technology, operations, HR and finance departments.

Christophe Parcot, Vice President said: "We’re keenly focused on recruiting and developing the best talent in the industry, and there is significant opportunity at Yahoo! for the right individuals who want to grow their careers with a global digital brand."

The Taoiseach, who is expected to host a press conference from the Yahoo! campus in Sunnyvale, California later today, said: "I'm delighted to welcome the further expansion of Yahoo! in Dublin with 200 new jobs. Ireland is becoming the internet capital of Europe with companies like Yahoo! offering great opportunities to our passionate, highly-skilled work force.

"Yahoo!'s growing footprint in Ireland is a welcome statement of its commitment to this country."
