Archbishop Emanuel Milingo from Zambia will be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.

The 71-year-old cleric is to marry a 43-year-old Korean woman, Mary, at the New York Hilton.

Archbishop Milingo is to join the sect, the Church of Unification, led by Reverend Sun Myiung Moon.

Rev Moon will conduct the ceremony himself, reports Italian website il Nuovo. The bride was chosen for the Archbishop by Rev Moon.

The Vatican is upset at the decision of one of its most popular archbishops to marry and leave the church.

Archbishop Milingo attended a mass Moonies wedding for 10,000 couples last year in Seoul, Korea.

The Church of Unification has about four and a half million followers, mainly in Korea, United States and Japan.
