The energy regulator said today that electricity prices are expected to fall by an average of 6% from November 1 of this year.

According to the Commission for Energy Regulation, the price cut will mean a saving of about €50 on the annual ESB household bill.

Small and medium-sized business customers will see reductions of around 5.9% and 10% respectively.

The reductions, which will come into effect two months earlier than usual, are the result of lower gas prices.
