Salesman who impersonated Brad Pitt goes on trial

A Jordanian salesman who used Brad Pitt’s photo on a forged identity card is on trial in the United Arab Emirates.

A Jordanian salesman who used Brad Pitt’s photo on a forged identity card is on trial in the United Arab Emirates.

The 29-year-old salesman forged an identity card with the Hollywood actor’s picture and an Arabic name in order to steal more than €21,000 left unclaimed at an exchange house where his brother worked as a teller, said the daily Gulf News.

The man, who told police he did not know who Brad Pitt was, confessed to Dubai’s court that he downloaded Pitt’s photo from the internet, Gulf News said. Police were reportedly alerted by an informant.

Dubai’s public prosecutors charged the man with forgery and embezzlement. A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office was not immediately able to comment on the trial.
