Offaly boss Mike McNamara has taken the bold move of continuing to leave corner-forward Simon Whelahan on the bench for tomorrow night's qualifier clash with Limerick.

Offaly boss Mike McNamara has taken the bold move of continuing to leave corner-forward Simon Whelahan on the bench for tomorrow night's qualifier clash with Limerick.

The Whelahan brothers - Simon, Barry and Brian - withdrew their services for a period on the weekend following Simon's non inclusion but despite doing a u-turn and returning Simon remains on the bench.

The Birr man may yet fill the vacancy left at midfield while Brendan Murphy and Niall Claffey are both returned to the first team.
