Labour calls for Dublin South by-election

The Labour Leader is calling on the Government to call a date for the by-election in Dublin South.

An election in the constituency is necessary to fill the seat once occupied by former Minister and Fianna Fail TD Seamus Brennan who died in July.

Speaking in Clonmel this morning, Eamon Gilmore said there are two clear reasons why the by-election should be held as soon as possible.

‘Dublin South needs to have its full representation in Dáil Eireann and the people of Dublin South need to get its representation back up to what it was.

‘Secondly I think it would be an opportunity for people, in at least some part of the country, to pass a judgement on the Government’s performance,’ he said.
