Hovis-to-Mr Kipling foods group RHM today said that price hikes in its bread division had helped it to a 2% increase in half-year sales.

RHM added that an improvement in its Mr Kipling division had offset a softer performance in its culinary brands arm which includes, Bisto gravy, Sharwood’s Asian sauces, Robertson’s jam and Paxo stuffing mixes.

The group’s largest brand Hovis continues to perform satisfactorily following the introduction of new packaging and new products, RHM said.

The group supplies around one third of the UK’s daily bread, delivering in excess of two million fresh loaves and rolls to over 9,000 supermarkets and small independent stores nationwide every day. As well as Hovis, brands include Granary and Mother’s Pride.
