Public understanding of Nice Treaty remains low
There has been very little increase in public understanding of the Nice Treaty Referendum.
The Referendum Commission has been given the task of informing the public about both sides of the Nice Treaty argument.
At the start of the campaign, only 16% of the public said they understood what the Nice Treaty is all about.
One month after two information booklets and a national media campaign were launched and the numbers have only risen to 25%.
The Chairman of the Referendum Commission, Mr Justice Tom Finlay, said the results are disappointing and disturbing.
