Celtic and Liverpool legends are to meet in a charity match at Parkhead on October 4.

Members of the teams which won their respective championships in 1986 will come together, managed again by Kenny Dalglish and David Hay.

Some great names of the past will be on show such as Danny McGrain, Brian McClair, Mark McGhee and Peter Grant for Celtic, with the Liverpool team featuring Anfield legends such as Ian Rush, Alan Hansen, Jan Molby and Peter Beardsley.

All proceeds raised will go to the Celtic Charity Fund, with some of the beneficiaries including registered charities nominated by the family of Parkhead legend Jimmy Johnstone, as well as the Marina Dalglish Appeal, which has been set up by Kenny’s wife to assist breast cancer charities.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “We are delighted to be staging this match at Celtic Park. There are some great names on show and we are sure the event will be a great success.”

Former Celtic and Liverpool star Dalglish commented: “I am very pleased to be involved in this match.”
