Tourist attacked on O'Connell street after an hour in city 'loves Ireland'

A tourist who was injured in a bottle attack on O'Connell Street in Dublin last weekend says the incident will not stop him from enjoying his holiday.

Daffyd from Wales was waiting to board a tourist bus at around 9pm on Saturday night when the incident happened. He had only been in the city for just over an hour when the attack happened.

A man has appeared in court charged with assault after the incident.

However, Daffyd said he will not allow the incident to mar his holiday.

"We love Ireland," he said. "One of our parties with us, it's his favourite place - they're from Australia and come here all the time."

"We go listen to all the music and have a couple of pints of Guinness - it's a lovely, lovely place to come."
