Man arrested in connection with missing builder

Gardaí in Portlaoise have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Englishman Tommy Thompson last year.

Gardaí in Portlaoise have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Englishman Tommy Thompson last year.

The 59-year-old was working as a plasterer in the Co Laois town when he disappeared in April.

Yesterday, Gardaí investigating the case found a body in a shallow grave in a wooded area near Dysart.

The remains have yet to be identified, but they are believed to be those of Mr Thompson.

This morning, Gardaí in Portlaoise arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the investigation.
