David Blaine’s latest stunt – to hold his breath underwater for a record amount of time – will be broadcast on ITV.
The illusionist, 33, will spend a week submerged in a clear human acrylic aquarium.
Blaine will acclimatise himself in the sphere before attempting to break the eight minutes 58 seconds record.
The stunt, which will be broadcast on ITV1, is set to take place in New York’s Lincoln Centre next month.
When the illusionist spent 44 days suspended in a box over the River Thames in London, he was barracked by passers-by.
But in the US, he is hoping the public will be there to touch the tank and give him messages of support.
In 2002, the magician undertook David Blaine: Vertigo, when he balanced on a 22-inch platform at the top of a 90ft pillar for 35 hours.
Two years earlier, Blaine’s Frozen In Time challenge saw the American encased in a block of ice for 61 hours in New York’s Times Square.
