Gardaí have appealed for help from the public in tracing the driver of a van involved in an accident in the Kells area of Co Meath last Sunday.

Detectives investigating the case said a 60-year-old man remained on a life-support machine in Navan today after being seriously injured in the incident.

He was struck by a white Mercedes Sprinter van, which failed to stop at the scene of the accident in Normanstown, at around 6.45pm last Sunday.

Gardaí said examinations of the scene indicated that damage had been caused to the wing, mirror and indicator on the front left of the vehicle.
