This afternoon’s meeting at Uttoxeter goes ahead after the threat of heavy frost failed to materialise.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen saw no need to call the scheduled precautionary 7.30am inspection as overnight temperatures did not dip under freezing.

He said: “We were lucky in that the frost never arrived and we are set fair for a good day.

“It’s probably the warmest it’s been for about 10 days – there are no problems at all.”

The seven-race card begins at 12.20pm and the going is currently good to soft, soft in places.
