The BBC has scooped two gongs at the International Emmy Awards, winning honours for motoring series Top Gear and a holocaust documentary made jointly with German and Polish producers.
ITV was lauded for 50 years of “excellence in commercial broadcasting” at the event, hosted by comedian Graham Norton in New York.
Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson did not make it to the ceremony to claim his prize for best non-scripted entertainment show.
He beat off competition from, among others, Borat TV Special, featuring the fictional Kazakhstani journalist Borat Sagdiyev, also known as Sacha Baron Cohen.
Little Britain fared less well, losing the best comedy award to Canadian show The Newsroom.
