Ryanair is one of the worst airlines for attracting complaints from members of the travelling public, according to a report by a British consumer watchdog for the airline sector.

The Irish airline was third on the list of public complaints to the watchdog last year behind British Airways and Air France.

The low fares airline has been accused of ignoring complaints from customers from Britain’s Air Transport Users’ Council.

Council chief, Simon Evans, said: "If there is no one to whom they can complain, they don't bother, they drop it or they try to complain to us and with some airlines we can help them and with others we can't. It just depends on the airline."
