Paulo Wanchope's agent admits he "wouldn't be surprised" if the Manchester City striker moved to America's Major League Soccer.
His agent revealed he received a call from an MLS side seeking to sign "a big-name" forward.
Wanchope, who is still on the Maine Road transfer list after an early-season bust-up with boss Joe Royle, is currently in the States for Costa Rica's World Cup qualifier with the USA.
And his representative said: "I had a call from someone in America who was trying to sign up a big name centre-forward, and that would tie in.
"He said he was coming over to sign up a player - maybe they're on a little recruitment drive and just making some noises."
He added of the former Derby and West Ham hitman: "Last time I spoke to him he was just going to see how it went, just settle down and see what happens.
"But what he's going to do now I don't really know - he's been playing and he's still their top goalscorer don't forget."
He explained a move across the Atlantic could suit Wanchope, who City signed for £3.65m last August.
"It wouldn't surprise me, to be honest, if he wanted to go that way (to America). I wouldn't be at all surprised," he admitted.
