RUC raid sparks riots in west Belfast

Two RUC officers and a British soldier were injured last night when they were attacked by loyalists during a raid on a house in west Belfast.

Two RUC officers and a British soldier were injured last night when they were attacked by loyalists during a raid on a house in west Belfast.

A blast bomb, 13 petrol bombs and a variety of fireworks were thrown at the officers as they conducted the raid.

A pipe bomb was also recovered during the operation, which sparked serious rioting on the Lower Shankill Road.
