QPR are hoping to complete a deal for Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand, it is understood.

The 26-year-old has been regularly linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light this summer and could now be set for a move to west London.

It is understood that QPR manager Neil Warnock is interested in signing Ferdinand as he looks to bolster his squad before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

The R’s were recently taken over by Tony Fernandes and have made three transfers so far, bringing in Joey Barton, Luke Young and Armand Traore.

The younger brother of England international Rio could be the latest recruit, while reports suggest that Warnock is also looking to tie up a deal for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
