ISEQ slips into red

The ISEQ-index of Irish finished down 87.67 to 8339.12 by close of trading today.

The ISEQ-index of Irish finished down 87.67 to 8339.12 by close of trading today.

The financials reflected the overall trend, with Anglo Irish Bank faring the worst by sliding 22c to €13.78, Irish Life and Permanent fell 19c to €17.81 with Allied Irish Bank doing slightly better, down 17c to €18.55.

Some heavy declines contributed towards the overall picture with Smurfit Kappa plummeting 64c to €15.86. Bookmaker Paddy Power was not far behind sliding 59c to €23.10.

Elsewhere, the biggest gain of the day was within the food sector with Donegal Cream gaining 25c to €6.70. However Kerry Group endured a drop falling 22c to €18.88.
